OutLaw, a group of lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender and allied law students at the Elon University School of Law, will host a seminar on estate planning for LGBT families on Thursday, October 30, at 6 p.m. in Room 204 of the law school.
Most states, including North Carolina, don’t recognize same-gender marriage, leaving same-gender couples without inherent legal protection in the event of incapacity or death. High Point attorney Ellen W. “Lennie” Gerber will cover basic ways in which couples can, with proper planning, protect themselves and their assets.
This program is specifically designed for non-lawyers. A Q&A will follow.
The seminar is open to the general public but seating is limited. Please RSVP to Justin Ervin by emailing jervin@elon.edu.
Parking is available in the Bellemeade Street parking deck, one block north of the school.
