Richard and John Contiguglia, identical twins who are today considered among the most acclaimed piano-duos in the world, visit Elon University on Thursday, November 13, for a performance of four-hand piano on two Steinway concert grand instruments.
The concert will be held in Whitley Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for reserved seats are now available at the Office of Cultural Programs box office. Admission is $15 or free with an Elon ID.
The Contiguglias have collaborated as a piano duo since the age of five, performing with major orchestras throughout the world including the National Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony and the Cleveland Orchestra.
In addition, they have performed in venues such as the Lincoln Centre in New York and the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.
The program includes music of Howard Ferguson, Franz Schubert, and Beethoven/Liszt, all of which the Contiguglias will perform on Nov. 25 at London’s National Gallery for Myra Hess Day 2008.
Myra Hess is a British pianist who initiated, directed and performed a series of concerts during the Second World War. The concerts became legendary and were thought to provide a cultural oasis for Londoners during a time when so many were giving all to combat evil.
The brothers will also provide a master class to students of Victoria Fischer Faw during their visit.
