John A. Allison, chairman and CEO of BB&T, comes to Elon University on Nov. 5 as the 2008 Ethics in Business speaker for the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business. Allison delivers his lecture at 4 p.m. in the LaRose Digital Theater inside the business school.
His talk, “Principled Leadership,” is free and open to the public. Program attendees will receive a copy of Allison’s book, The BB&T Philosophy, which details the fundamental principles on which BB&T has been built.
A reception will follow the event in the Koury Business Center Atrium.
Allison is a native of Charlotte, N.C. He began his career with BB&T in 1971 and took over as president in 1987. He was elected chairman and CEO two years later.
Allison earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his MBA from Duke University. He also attended the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.
