Jason Kirk, an assistant professor of political science, spoke with News 14 Carolina on Dec. 4 about President-elect Barack Obama's national security team and the challenges faced by Obama and President Bush in the Indian subcontinent.
The interview with news anchor Tracey Early is set to run several times from Dec. 6-7. In it, Kirk talks about the “nonpartisan” nature of Robert Gates, the current Secretary of Defense asked by Obama to remain in his Cabinet after Bush leaves August. Kirk also addressed the simmering conflict between Pakistan and India regarding the Kashmir region – something Obama will need to handle in the coming years.
