Senior journalism and political science double major Olivia Hubert-Allen placed 10th in the Hearst In-Depth Writing Award competition.
Hubert-Allen, also a Journalism and Communications Fellow, won for her piece Elonomics, which you can view by clicking the link on the right. She was awarded a $500 scholarship for her finish. It is the first Hearst Award for The Pendulum during this year’s competition cycle.
Students from all over the country submit entries for consideration in Hearst Award competitions. The top five finishers in the competition came from the University of Kansas, the University of Oregon, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Northwestern University.
Hubert-Allen was the editor of The Pendulum during 2008.
