Since joining the Elon University School of Law faculty for its charter academic year in 2006, associate professor Catherine Dunham has played a key role in the launch and development of this major university initiative.
“This is an exciting time to be connected with the School of Law,” Dunham says. “In just a few short years we have attained provisional ABA accreditation, recruited gifted students from across the country, and made a significant impact on the region’s legal community.”
Dunham has not only contributed to these achievements through her work in the classroom;
she is also a generous supporter of the School of Law Annual Fund and a member of
The Elon Society.
“I think faculty/staff giving is particularly critical now, as everything we can do to support the early growth of the School of Law will pay off in countless ways down the line,” she says. “Also, it’s not just the School of Law that is experiencing unprecedented growth and success: Elon University as a whole is on a strong upwards trajectory right now. I’m pleased to be supporting an institution with this kind of positive momentum.”
Ultimately, Dunham sees her financial gifts as one part of her overall commitment to Elon’s continued prosperity. “The success of a new professional school requires a significant degree of investment on the part of the faculty, administration, students, and wider community. That investment takes many forms, including engaged classroom instruction, mentorship, and also financial support. For me, giving is about making a comprehensive commitment to the university.”
