“Elon in New York” is a new Elon program designed to introduce Elon juniors across all majors to life and work in New York City. The program will run from early June through early or mid August. Safe and affordable housing has been arranged.
The purpose of this exciting new program is to enable students to develop competencies as business professionals through participating in an approved internship and professional development course in New York City.
Students will
• Complete an internship (each student must secure his/her internship).
• Complete a 2-credit professional development course.
• Develop professional skills.
• Expand their knowledge of postgraduate career options.
• Strengthen their résumés.
• Gain six hours of Elon course credit.
• Enjoy a safe, affordable place to live in New York City.
Students must meet the following criteria to participate in the program:
• Have junior standing or higher at the time the program starts.
• Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Be free of any honor code violations for at least one year.
• Be interested in a business-related career (Many different pursuits fall under this category, including arts administration, social services, sports management in addition to such traditional business pursuits as finance, marketing and accounting).
• Have secured an internship prior to the start of the summer term.
• Register for six hours of coursework (four-hour internship and two-hour professional development course).
