POSTPONED for March 3: “What’s the Matter with Pilgrimage Studies? History, Historiography, Hagiography and the Camino de Santiago”

Due to a winter storm, the March 3 talk by Barbara Abou-el-Haj has been postponed until further notice. Organizers are working to reschedule her visit and will post an announcement to E-net in the coming weeks as details are finalized.

Barbara Abou-el-Haj, “What’s the Matter with Pilgrimage Studies? History, Historiography, Hagiography and the Camino de Santiago”
Yeager Recital Hall, 6 p.m.

Abou-el-Haj examines the role of pilgrims and pilgrimage, fundamental to the historiography of Santiago de Compostela, to ask what is overlooked and who is excluded in a history that concerns itself almost entirely with the consumption, not the production, of the cult of Saint James.
