Former North Carolina Supreme Court Justice and Elon University School of Law distinguished jurist in residence, James G. Exum Jr., has been honored with the 2009 John McNeil Smith Jr. Constitutional Rights and Responsibilities Section Award by the North Carolina Bar Association.

Elon University music majors Jacob Danieley and Kaitlyn Fay have been named finalists in the 12th Annual John Lennon Scholarship Songwriting Program, a national contest established in 1997 by Yoko Ono, Lennon's widow, and the BMI Foundation.
POWERless Energy Competition – Week 1 Results

More than half of the 40 campus buildings taking part in the 2009 POWERless Energy Competition showed energy reduction for the first week of the contest, with every area of Elon putting forward at leas one building - and often more than one - showing a drop-off in power use.

Mary Gowan, dean of the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, tackles that question in “Human Resource Management: Managing Employees for Competitive Advantage,” a new textbook co-authored with a colleague from Rutgers University.
