Two students in the School of Communications were selected as Elon University's first recipients of the Scripps Howard Foundation Award.
Ashley Barnas, a journalism and broadcast double major and online editor of The Pendulum, and Randy Gyllenhaal, a broadcast major and reporter for Phoenix14News, won a $3,000 stipend and a $1,000 scholarship. The students were selected in a competitive process that required all applicants to write an essay and submit a complete online multimedia journalism portfolio.
