Tim McMahon, an assistant professor in the School of Communications, was in New York on Friday, March 13, to judge the 2009 Silver Anvil Awards.
The Silver Anvil is awarded by the Public Relations Society of America in recognition of PR programs for successfully forging public opinion with exemplary professional skill, creativity and resourcefulness. The award recognizes complete programs incorporating sound research, planning, execution and evaluation. Finalists must meet the highest standards of performance in the profession.
McMahon said there were a record number of entries at this year’s competition in 16 categories with sub-segments by size and industry structure. Winners will be recognized at a banquet June 5 in New York.
At ConAgra Foods, McMahon’s team won a Silver Anvil in 2001 for Feeding Children Better, a program that addressed childhood hunger in a comprehensive, companywide manner.
