How about a little T.G.I.F.? That's right, it's time for Three Great Internship Fridays in the School of Communications.
Join Internship Director Nagatha Tonkins for Internship Open Houses from 9-11:30 a.m. on April 17 and 24 and May 1 in McEwen 112. Drop in the internship office for coffee and refreshments and chat with alumni, former interns and professionals about internship opportunities, requirements and resources. Register for cool prizes.
The internship office is also requiring Communications Internship Prep Seminars on April 17 and 24 in Studio B. Communications students who are planning summer and fall internships must attend two seminars to prepare them for their internship experience. Online pre-registration is required for the following:
2-3:30 p.m.: Professional Practice for a Successful Internship – Internship Prep I
Discussions will be focused on how to nurture a culture of professionalism and excellence. We’ll talk about how to gain a supervisor’s confidence and meet expectations, and how to make the most of this internship experience.
3:40-5:10 p.m.: How to Put Together a Winning Portfolio/Reel – Internship Prep II
This seminar will center on how to ensure your internship will provide the best opportunity to build on your portfolio. Ross Wade will share tips on how to use your internship work to enhance your portfolios. Students will review sample portfolios, online and hard copy.
