Gary Palin, executive director of the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and senior lecturer of entrepreneurship in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, was a featured speaker and moderated the lead panel discussion launching the 2009 MIT Global Startup Workshop in Cape Town, South Africa held on March 25.
The ‘Student Success Stories’ panel discussed the accomplishments, obstacles and strategies of three student entrepreneurs: Daria Ustyuzhanina of Russia, James Jardella of United Kingdom and Nevin Hanumara of United States.
The MIT Global Startup Workshop is the world’s premier conference on fostering entrepreneurship through supportive and catalytic infrastructure such as that epitomized by MIT’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. The annual three-day conference is organized in close collaboration with partners from a host country in order to discuss practical steps that can be taken by students, academic faculty, venture capitalists, government leaders, entrepreneurs, and top business leaders. This event provides an unrivaled opportunity to share best practices for fostering and supporting entrepreneurs within and between different regions and for contributing to the global network of entrepreneurial support organizations.
Palin also moderated a ‘Keeping the Momentum: Ensuring the continued success of your organization’ panel on March 27 discussing controlled growth, leadership, vision and planning. Allon Raiz of South Africa, Torsten Kolind of Denmark and Greg Durst of United States composed the panel.
