Connie Renda, a 2003 music theatre alumna, was among six finalists in the "Great American Duet Sing-Off" competition sponsored by Prairie Home Companion, a nationally syndicated public radio program. Renda and her duet partner Elizabeth Brown were featured in a live broadcast April 11.
The broadcast, featuring host Garrison Keillor, originated at Town Hall in New York City. The program was broadcast in North Carolina on WUNC radio stations.
Prairie Home Companion carries this description of Renda and Brown on its Web site:
“Brooklyn duo Elizabeth Brown and Connie Renda have lots in common, from Italian families to a love of close harmonies. Connie, from York, Pennsylvania, has been singing professionally since she was 12. After earning a B.F.A., she moved to New York City to pursue a singing and acting career. Elizabeth grew up in Northport, New York, where her mom taught her to sing harmony to songs on the radio. Following college, she joined her brother’s pop/punk band, Wheatus, where she met Connie.”
Renda recently entertained Elon alumni, parents and friends at the New York City launch of the Ever Elon Campaign. She and fellow alumna Lindsay Northen sang a duet at the event at The Plaza Hotel on March 9.
