Several psychology majors presented research on April 18 at the 34th Carolinas Psychology Conference hosted by Meredith College.

Sarah Krippenstapel gave a presentation titled “Parent beliefs and involvement in numeracy activities with preschool children,” Carly Price presented “Parent-child interactions during storybook reading” and Brian Smith presented “The effects of degraded perceptual information on encoding and retrieval processes.”

Maureen Vandermaas-Peeler, professor of psychology and director of the Honors Program, is the faculty mentor for Carly Price and Sarah Krippenstapel. Amy Overman, assistant professor of psychology, is the faculty mentor for Brian Smith and Kate Kielek, who also attended.

The Carolinas Psychology Conference is one of the oldest and largest forums in the U.S. for undergraduate research in psychology. Members of more than 20 universities in Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia were in attendance.
