Jessica Gisclair, associate professor in the School of Communications, presented "Perceptions of Beauty and Self in China's X-Generation" to the Asian Popular Culture Division at the PCA/ACA Conference in New Orleans April 10.
The research is a collaborative effort with Strategic Communications senior Abby Balik, and it explored consumer behavior, perceptions of what represents beauty and self and the potential shift in traditional Chinese values of beauty among 18-35-year-old females.
In addition, Gisclair chaired a panel for the Internet Culture Division at the PCA/ACA Conference. “Blogging, Twittering, and Friending: Exploring the Online Community of Social Media” addressed the social, legal and historical effect social networking sites have on online users and other communities.
