Jeff Stein has been promoted to associate dean of students and assistant professor of English at Elon University, effective June 1.
During the seven years that Stein has worked at Elon, he has displayed what university leaders describe as “exceptional leadership” in the Kernodle Center for Service Learning and in Residence Life. In addition, he has played a role in increasing community service opportunities, service-learning courses, residential learning communities and the number and quality of dorm rooms.
Stein, who currently serves as assistant dean of students and assistant professor of English and who teaches literature and creative writing part-time, also advocates the advancement of diversity programs and has served as a liaison for the Multicultural Center. He is a part of many campus committees representing student life.
Stein has made multiple presentations on service learning and in 2008, he co-authored “Making the Transition to Collaborative Service Learning” for Planning for Higher Education. His other publications include the chapter, “Service-Learning as Crossroads,” which was published in Student and Academic Affairs Collaboration: The Divine Comity in 2007.
Stein holds a master of arts in literature from the University of Northern Colorado and a master of fine arts in creative writing poetry from Colorado State University.
