CBS Evening News features ’09 Elon alum

When Robert Hoppey '09 saw a tough job market in the year leading up to his graduation, he built a "souped-up multimedia resume" that included a video spoof of "The Office" television program to show potential employers his creative side. CBS Evening News took note, too, and Hoppey was featured in a June 8 nationwide segment on the ways college graduates are marketing themselves in an economic recession.

Robert Hoppey spoke with a CBS camera crew in mid May inside Belk Library.

Crews from CBS visited Elon University in mid May to interview Hoppey, a communications major with plans to enter the public relations industry. He visited with a producer and two camera operators in Belk Library. CBS also took video footage of Hoppey training for a cross country bicycle ride he is making this summer to raise money for charity.

“You really do need to find ways to stand out and you can’t rely on the cold applications and kind of the traditional ways of going about things,” Hoppey said of his multimedia efforts.
