Faculty of the Mathematics Department and a rising junior attended the United States Conference on Teaching Statistics (USCOTS) hosted June 25-27 by the Ohio State University.
Senior Lecturer Lisa Beuerle attended the conference in her role as first-year core coordinator. Assistant professors Kirstie Doehler and Laura Taylor attended pre-conference workshops in addition to the conference. Assistant professor Ayesha Delpish presented “Statistics in Context: Service-Learning in Statistics.”
Associate professor Alan Russell, senior lecturer Jan Mays, and rising-junior Amanda Ketner presented “Including Undergraduates in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Statistics” as part of a CATL scholar’s project.
This is the second time the department has participated in this bi-annual conference. Elon’s work in statistics and statistics education was again well received.
