Peter Kiwitt, an assistant professor in the School of Communications, was a consulting producer for FilmNation Entertainment in Los Angeles this summer.
The production division of FilmNation is headed by Aaron Ryder, producer of such films as “Memento,” “Donnie Darko,” and “The Prestige.” Kiwitt worked on the creative and production aspects of several upcoming projects including “The Raven,” a thriller based on the last five days of Edgar Allen Poe’s life.
Kiwitt also attended the University Film and Video Association’s conference in New Orleans, where he moderated a panel titled “Professional Directors on Directing: Three Approaches for the Classroom,” where he and two other Directors Guild of America members presented techniques for teaching directing. Kiwitt’s presentation was titled, “Introducing Students to the Art of Directing.” He also chaired the Entertainment Industry Caucus and judged the narrative category of the NextFrame Touring Festival of International Film and Video.
Closer to home, Kiwitt met with other board members of the Piedmont Triad Film Commission, continued production on DEEP Impact for Elon’s Multicultural Center and worked an academic paper on cinema.
