This week, September 21-24, the Black Cultural Society is raising money for Loaves and Fishes and the Aging Academy.
Loaves and Fishes is a Burlington, N.C., food ministry that provides groceries to hungry families in Alamance and five surrounding counties. As a result of the current recessionary period, Loaves and Fishes has experienced a steep decline in donations.
Aging Academy is a research program headed by Leon Williams and other Elon faculty/staff. The program targets elderly African-Americans’ mental and physical health through health information sessions, physical activity trainings, and healthy meals focused on antioxidants.
