Represent New York and all the Elon Regional Alumni Chapters as we participate in the October month of service and help make a difference for others.
The Department of Education cut $180 million from it’s budget last year, forcing schools to cut or postpone revitalization and upkeep projects. But the thousands of New York City public school children deserve brighter, safer and more stimulating learning environments.
For the third year, New York City area Elon alumni will participate in New York Cares Day on Saturday, October 17. Alumni will meet from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at P.S. 19 K Roberto Clemente School in Brooklyn (*New Location*). P.S. 19 has over 450 kids grades K-5 with 100% of the students qualifying for free or reduced lunch.
Families, friends and children over 12 years old are welcome to attend.
Alumni will be involved in painting murals and a wrought iron fence, organizing a supply room, moving textbooks from the 1st floor to the 4th floor and planting bulbs in the garden. New York Cares Day takes place rain or shine.
To register visit the New York Cares Day site and join the Elon University NYC Alumni Chapter team. There is a $20 registration fee to defray the considerable cost that goes into this day.
Alumni must register by Friday, October 9.
P.S. 19 K Roberto Clemente School is located at 325 South Third Street (between. Rodney and Keap Streets). Take the L train to Metropolitan/Union, exit at Union Avenue (Kellogg’s Diner) Keap Street. Walk down Keap Street to the school.
