Standout Phoenix wide receiver Terrell Hudgins, who needs 536 yards to break the national FCS record for career receiving yards held by NFL legend Jerry Rice, was profiled in the Oct. 2 edition of the Raleigh, N.C., News & Observer. Hudgins needs just three catches to set the national FCS record for career receptions.
The News & Observer named Hudgins the 2004 prep athlete of the year for his performance as a quarterback at Rocky Mount, N.C., High School.
Hudgins owns the Elon and Southern Conference records for receptions in a season, career touchdown receptions, career receptions and career receiving yards.
Hudgins has long idolized Rice and wore a #80 San Francisco 49ers jersey regularly as a youngster.
