Work by professor emeritus David Noer has appeared in recent days in a regional newspaper and in a widely read magazine that focuses on applied academics and thinking practitioners in the area of leadership and leadership development.
Noer authored “Layoff Leadership Traps” in the magazine Leadership Excellence. The article examines three concepts – gunnysacking, cost cutting/control, and the “repeating what got me here” trap – as it offers ways for company executives to avoid such areas when leading organizations in decline.
Noer also penned an Oct. 4 centerpiece opinion column in the News & Record in Greensboro, N.C. “Governing bodies score low on teamwork” gives letter grades to the Greensboro City Council and the Guilford County Board of Commissioners on five core competencies of learning organizations.
