Elon’s regional Alumni Chapters will participate in the national month of service in October and help make an impact in their communities. Alumni are invited to bring friends, family members or co-workers to any of the service events! Check out the following list of Alumni Chapter service events.
Atlanta:
Atlanta alumni will participate in the Give thanks. Walk. for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Saturday, November 21 at 8 a.m. at Zoo Atlanta. There is no registration fee to participate and alumni enjoy free admission to the zoo!
Baltimore:
Alumni will volunteer with Moveable Feast, a food delivery program on Saturday, October 17 from noon-3 p.m. Alumni will be working to pack meals in the kitchen and should wear casual clothes and comfortable shoes. Click here for more information.
Boston:
Boston Alumni will join the Walk Now for Autism on Sunday, October 18 at 8 a.m. at Suffolk Downs in East Boston. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. Register at www.walknowforautism.org and click on the Boston walk to join the Elon University team. Charleston:
Alumni will be collecting toys at Tommy Condon’s on Monday, November 9 at 6 p.m. Alumni are asked to bring a new unwrapped toy to the event to be donated to Toys for Tots. Click here for more information.
Charlotte:
Alumni will participate in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure a non-competitive 5K on Saturday, October 3 at 8 a.m. in Uptown Charlotte. Alumni and their friends and families can register with the Phoenix for a Cure team at www.komencharlotte.org. Click here for more information.
Alumni will also have the opportunity to volunteer with the Kyle Fleischmann Foundation on Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17 at the Charlotte NASCAR weekend. Alumni will gather on Friday from 5:30-7 p.m. and on Saturday from 3-5 p.m. to distribute and post flyers around the speedway. Chicago:
Alumni will host a Goodwill coat drive on Wednesday, October 14 at 5:30 p.m. at McCormick and Schmicks. Alumni are asked to bring their friends, families and co-workers to join them and donate to Goodwill. Click here for more information.
New York City:
For the third year, New York City-area alumni will participate in New York Cares Day on Saturday, October 17. Alumni will meet from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at P.S. 19 K Roberto Clemente School in Brooklyn. P.S. 19 has more than 450 students in grades K-5 with 100% of the students qualifying for free or reduced-priced lunch.
Alumni must register at www.newyorkcaresday.org and join the Elon University NYC Alumni Chapter Team by Friday, October 9. There is a $20 registration fee to defray the considerable cost that goes into this day. Click here for more information.
Philadelphia:
Philadelphia alumni will participate in Philadelphia Cares Day on Saturday, October 17 revitalizing Philadelphia-area public schools. Triangle:
Alumni will participate in two service projects to benefit the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Join local alumni for their canned food drive and social on Thursday, October 8 from 7-9 p.m. at the Caroline Ale House in Brier Creek. Alumni will bring the donations to the Food Bank on Saturday, October 10 and volunteer from 2-4 p.m. in the warehouse. Click here for more information.
Alumni will also collect donations at each of their events for the Triangle Spokes Group and distribute bicycles to local children in need on December 16 and 17. Washington, D.C.:
Join D.C. alumni as they participate in Light the Night for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on October 17 at 7 p.m in Freedom Park. Children, adults and seniors are all welcome! Light the Night is the nation’s night to pay tribute and bring hope to people battling cancer.
