Elon University senior Bryce Little has been keeping a blog of his study abroad experiences in Ghana this semester, and late last month, he posted a short story about a mid September canoe ride that ended with his efforts to keep a man who couldn’t swim from drowning when the craft sank into a lake.
“After it was all done it was the best feeling in the world knowing that no one died and that we spent that night dancing and singing,” the Raleigh, N.C., native wrote in his blog entry. “This is where the good part starts. I am so lucky to be around such amazing people here that would risk their lives to save others. Just seeing someone so close to death and have them come back to be able to speak and dance is a feeling like no other.”
