Students in Dr. Thomas Tiemann’s 440 Urban Economics took an October 7 day trip to Chicago. The visit was an opportunity to learn how a city like Chicago can evolve terms of population, transportation, culture, and commerce. Students rode the “L,” toured Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower), Millenium Park, and the platinum-LEED-certified Chicago Center for Green Technology, the city’s prime example of urban green technology. A visit to the Chicago Board of Trade was arranged by Ed Maxwell, father of Brendan Maxwell ’05.
