Patrick Cook-Deegan, “Cycle for Schools” – Oct. 22

Cook-Deegan, a 2008 graduate of Brown University, raised $22,500 to build a school in Laos as well as provide two K-12 scholarships for girls in Cambodia by bicycling 27,000 miles through Southeast Asia during his sophomore year.
He recently began working for the U.S. Campaign for Burma, a group that promotes freedom, democracy and human rights in that country. In a very short time, Cook-Deegan has raised more than $75,000 and published a host of articles on the subject of Burmese human rights violations.
