Live Oak Communications, Elon's student-run, full-service communications agency, is currently seeking qualified applicants for the spring of 2010. Live Oak develops and executes communications programs for businesses and not-for-profit organizations in the North Carolina region.
Services offered include public relations, advertising, special event marketing, viral marketing, media relations, web site development, video creation and graphic design. Students from all majors and years are encouraged to apply for specific positions. All hired positions receive class credit as well as gain professional experience.
“Live Oak is seeking students with excellent writing skills, as well as enthusiasm, resourcefulness, creativity and critical thinking skills,” said professor Lee Bush, faculty director for the agency. “The agency is also interested in applicants with visual technology expertise, including video and film production, web development and graphic design. This is a great way for students to build a client portfolio while gaining experience in the professional skills and business protocols required in a real agency.”
Live Oak serves five to seven clients each semester, both on and off campus. Past clients have included Earth Share of North Carolina, the Alamance Veterinary Hospital, Pro Feet sports socks, the Durham Arts Council, Farm Bureau of Alamance County and the Burlington Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Live Oak has particular interest in students with business, marketing, art and design backgrounds, as well as students with communications expertise. Students may apply by filling out an application and returning it by Nov. 9 to Professor Lee Bush, Campus Box 2850, or by turning it into the School of Communications office.
Interviews will be conducted mid November by the director and assistant director.
