Interested in a publishing opportunity before graduating?
Elon’s environmental magazine, Visions: The World We Live In and the World We Want to Live In, invites submissions of book reviews for possible publication in the 2010 edition. All reviews should be thoughtful, yet accessible to the general reader. They need not be long. All reviews should describe the following: 1) what the book is about, 2) the strengths/weaknesses of the book, 3) audiences that might find the book interesting, and 4) why you did/didn’t like the work.
Books should be current (between late-2007 and 2010) and must have an environmental or sustainability theme. Some possible ideas are listed below:
- Thomas Friedman’s Hot, Flat, and Crowed.
- Renee Loux’s Easy Green Living: The Ultimate Guide to Simple, Eco-Friendly Choices for You and Your Home.
- Eileen McGurty’s Transforming Environmentalism: Warren County, PCBs, and the Origins of Environmental Justice. (This book is locally relevant, focusing on the importance of North Carolina as the starting point of the environmental justice movement.)
Please email questions and submissions to visionsmagazine@elon.edu. Submissions are due by December 8.
