If you’re interested in living, learning and interning in Los Angeles for the summer, make sure you make your way to the Elon in Los Angeles Web site to download the program application and essay/checklist form. Begin filling out both documents for the nine-week summer immersion program that will run from June 5- Aug. 7.
Be sure you attend the Elon in L.A. interest meeting at 3 p.m. on Nov. 13 in Studio B. If you have any questions about the program, please contact J. McMerty (jmcmerty@elon.edu), the program coordinator.
The program, open to all majors, accepts up to 40 students, who will earn six hours of credit (two hours of internship and four hours of a communications elective) while onsite in Hollywood.
Opportunities for internships exist within entertainment companies and businesses that support the industry, including casting, distribution of programming and entertainment journalism. We have contacts from more than 700 internships sites in the Los Angeles area. Additionally, students have the option of taking several courses relating to their major. Students will also interact with professionals as they discover the ins and outs of conceiving stories, pitching scripts, financing films, acting for the camera and recruiting talent. The course is designed to have weekly interactions with entertainment professionals in Hollywood.
