Amy Overman, assistant professor of psychology, was a guest speaker at Twin Lakes Men’s Club on Tuesday, October 27. The presentation, which drew a record attendance of 125 men and women, focused on healthy brain and memory function in older adults.
Overman addressed strategies for taking control of one’s own brain health — with anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory foods, and physical exercise (all of which have specific benefits to the brain and not just the body) — as well as through cognitive training, which focuses on exercising the mind. She also highlighted sex differences in the aging brain and several current undergraduate research projects in her laboratory, the Cognitive Neuroscience of Memory & Aging Lab.
