Elon’s chapter of AMSA (American Medical Student Association) is having a meeting this Thursday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. in Oaks Commons. We will be discussing volunteer and shadowing opportunities, future projects, Elon scrubs fundraiser, and national convention, among other topics. Snacks and pizza will be served.
What is AMSA? AMSA is the largest national organization of physicians-in-training and has members who are pre-medical students through residents. With over 65,000 members, AMSA represents the interests of its members to improve BOTH the level of medical training in the United States AND the health of the nation. While having opportunities to network and learn about the training process, AMSA also gives students the opportunities to learn about the public health issues that face our world today.
AMSA is not just a social organization consisting of students of medicine; it is about student activism that helps to provide healthcare access to all people and makes improvements in the medical training process. AMSA, at its core, involves its members in the social, moral and ethical obligations of the profession of medicine while giving individuals the tools they need to become successful physicians.
