Pumpkin Smash collects donations to food bank

The Society of Physics Students held its 3rd annual Great Pumpkin Smash on Nov. 8 on the field by the driving range with pleasant weather that eluded organizers one week earlier when rain forced a postponement from the originally scheduled date.

Judicial selection takes center stage at Elon Law debate

At a public debate at Elon Law on October 29, North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice (Ret.) Jim Exum urged that North Carolina move to a system of appointing judges, arguing that elections wrongly influence judges to consider the political implications of their decisions, while Elon Law professor Scott Gaylord defended judicial elections, saying an appointive system could create undue influence by the executive and legislative branches on the judiciary.

Elon entrepreneurship students attend networking event

Entrepreneurship students participated Oct. 29 in The Indus Entrepreneurs of Carolina’s (TiE) networking event at the Brier Creek Country Club in Raleigh, N.C. The students networked with approximately 60 high growth and technology entrepreneurs as part of their Entrepreneurship Skills course taught by Gary Palin, executive director of the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership.

Hometown Heroes honored in annual ceremony

Four people who make a difference in the lives of others were honored Monday by Elon University in the 16th annual “Hometown Heroes” awards ceremony on campus. Freshmen class officers selected the honorees for “making a positive difference by touching lives and strengthening their home communities” in a program sponsored by the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life.
