On Saturday, January 16, from 10 am to 12 pm, the admissions office of Elon University School of Law will host the YMCA of Greensboro's Black and Hispanic Achievers Program for a discussion of law school admissions, state government, the state judicial system, and opportunities in the legal profession.
Black Achievers is a nationally recognized teen mentoring program for 8th-12th graders. The focus is to educate and expose youth to various career fields as well as promote and encourage teens to further their education to post secondary institutions. Youth have the opportunity to take company and college tours and participate in training and self-esteem sessions.
By introducing future law students to legal concepts and constructs, the School of Law seeks to foster an appreciation for the range of insight and academic rigor required to enter law school, as well as an appreciation for opportunities available for groups currently underrepresented within the legal profession.
The faculty and administration of Elon University School of Law believe that a diverse and academically talented student body and a roster of professors with wide-ranging views and experiences are essential to prepare students to practice law in the 21st century.
