A winter tradition returns to campus Wednesday at noon when dozens of students brave the cold waters of Lake Mary Nell in the seventh annual Polar Bear Plunge sponsored by the North Area Council and the Resident Student Association.
The plunge is open only to Elon students. Organizers expect 30-40 students to take part in the activity.
Anyone wishing to participate in the Plunge must bring a towel. Participants must also wear closed-toe shoes into the water.

There is no entry fee. T-shirts will be distributed on a first come, first served basis to those who hit the water. They will be available for purchase for those who don’t. Prizes include gift cards to local stores and restaurants, including: Target, Starbucks, Chili’s, and Barnes & Noble, among others.
