Professors Catherine McNeela and Lynne Kurdziel Formato presented at the Music Theatre Educators Alliance International Conference held Jan. 7-10, 2010, at NYU Steinhardt in New York City.
McNeela moderated/helmed the Alumni Panel which featured successful graduates of a number of BFA music theatre programs including two Elon alumni: Lindsay Northen and Daniel Watts, both currently appearing on Broadway – Lindsay in “Wicked” and Daniel in “Memphis.”
Kurdziel Formato presented “Thoughts on a Theatre Dance Curriculum,” as well as serving as Conference planner as she completed her second term as Vice-President for Conferences.
The many presenters/speakers included Ted Sperling, acclaimed Broadway musical director of such shows as “The Light in the Piazza” and the current revival of “South Pacific,” Marcia Milgrom Dodge, director/choreographer of Broadway’s recent “Ragtime,” Pasek & Paul, composer/lyricist team, authors of “Edges,” Brian Blythe, Associate Artistic Director of the York Theatre Company, Shorey Walker – The Actors Connection, and numerous academic colleagues from top musical theatre programs.
