Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., D.E.E.P. and the National Pan-Hellenic Council will be hosting a “History of Haiti” forum on Thursday, January 21, at 8:30 p.m. in Yeager Recital Hall. The forum is to educate students on the history of Haiti and to share ideas for channeling relief efforts to the Caribbean nation.
Courtney Latta ’09 recently returned from where she was living in Haiti and is tentatively scheduled to be on the panel to discuss the current situation and the importance of monetary donations. Also on the panel is the Student Program Coordinator of D.E.E.P., Kelsey Glover, and student Jaimie Metellus.
Organizers will be accepting donations for the organization Latta was assisting at the time of the Jan. 12 quake: the Children’s Nutrition Program of Haiti. During the spring semester the Multicultural Center has agreed to reserve tables and Phoenix card swipers to continue its efforts in providing relief.
