Eighty-four young alumni make gifts during first week of The IGNITE Challenge

The challenge was issued Feb. 1 by Elon alumna and trustee Kerrii Brown Anderson ’79, former CEO of Wendy’s International, to increase participation in annual giving among young alumni. During the first week of the challenge, 84 young alums contributed $9,702 in gifts to Elon.

Here’s how The IGNITE Challenge works:
Make a gift of $20 or more in February (includes cash, online gifts, new recurring gifts and payments on pledges made after June 1, 2009). Your gift qualifies you for membership in IGNITE, Elon’s giving program for graduates of the past decade.

The payoff:
5-to-1 match by Kerrii Anderson ’79
Make a gift of $20, and Anderson will contribute $100 to Elon. Give $100 and Anderson will give $500. Anderson’s matching dollars will support students, faculty and programs.

Challenge progress as of Feb. 8, 2010:
Number of young alumni donors: 84
Total young alumni gifts to Elon: $9,702
Matching dollars from Kerrii Anderson: $48,510
