Christy Benson, an assistant professor of business law and ethics, and Gary Palin, executive director of the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and senior lecturer of entrepreneurship, presented Feb. 9 at the 2010 Civic Engagement Institute hosted by North Carolina Campus Compact.
“Civic Engagement Through Social Entrepreneurship” was the theme of the institute held at Elon University. The two Elon faculty members co-presented with Cynthia Clemons, director of entrepreneurship at Bennett College in Greensboro.
Benson, Palin and Clemon’s presentation, “Connecting University Social Entrepreneurship Activities,” focused on reviewing resources and strategies to share best practices, exchange ideas, form collaborations and to develop better integrated strategies across campus’s globally.
One hundred and eighty faculty, staff, students and community partners attended were in attendance for the institute. The North Carolina Campus Compact assist member institutions to consider how social innovation and entrepreneurship can impact their civic engagement initiatives.
