Elon University and the School of Communications will be hosting the third annual North Carolina College Media Association conference from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20 in the McEwen Communications building.
Members of student media organizations and their advisers from publications throughout the state will be in attendance to participate in sessions ranging from writing to design to photography, with special emphasis on interactive media and the business side of media.
Several faculty members from Elon University will lead sessions, including Communications associate professors Janna Anderson and Harlen Makemson, assistant professor Ken Calhoun, adjunct associate professor Dale Harrison, lecturer Randy Piland and coordinator of video projects J. McMerty. Ross Wade, assistant director of Career Services in Communications, and Nagatha Tonkins, director of internships in the School of Communications, will help do resume critiques for students, associate professor of political science Hunter Bacot will lead a session about polling and Provost Steven House will give a brief introduction to begin the conference.
The NCCMA held its last two conferences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University before coming to Elon this year.
