The Center for Leadership will be hosting a series of events this month during its 2nd annual LEADStrong week to celebrate leadership within the Elon University community. The week recognizes various aspects of leadership that Elon leaders exemplify on campus.
LEADStrong will be held the week of Feb. 22-27.
College coffee on Tuesday, Feb. 23, will be sponsored by LEADstrong and will feature the different leadership opportunities that the Center for Leadership has to offer.
A highlight of the week includes former U.S. Ambassador to Estonia, Dr. Aldona Wos, who will speak on Wednesday, Feb. 24, in McKinnon at 7:30 p.m. about “Diverse Perspectives in a Global Community.” A native of Poland, Wos served as U.S. Ambassador to Estonia from 2004-2006. As Ambassador, she focused on the prevention of AIDS, preservation of the national culture of Estonia and Russian integration.
Wos has strong ties to the Piedmont as she has served on the board of the United Way of Greater Greensboro, among other organizations.
On Thursday, Feb. 25, Nancy Midgette will be speaking at College Chapel in Whitley Auditorium on “Defining Moments” with a focus on leadership.
Also on Thursday, Feb. 25, Midnight Meals will be held at 11 p.m. in Irazu. LEADstrong is sponsoring the Midnight Meals, which will include the announcement of the “I’m an Elon Leader” video contest winner. For the video contest, students were asked to show what it means to them to be an “Elon Leader.” Twisted Measure will be there to provide entertainment.
The capstone event of the week is the Leadership Development Institute on Saturday, Feb. 27.
