News and Observer: N.C. NAACP files complaint over Wake school board’s decision

From the Raleigh News & Observer (3/5/10): The N.C. NAACP has filed a formal complaint with the organization that accredits Wake County Schools over the school board's decision to end busing for diversity.

The complaint to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools alleges that the board majority has violated open meetings laws and dismissed input from opponents.

The complaint says the board has undermined the authority of Superintendent Del Burns.

The NAACP wants the association to preserve the existing system, a model for diversity that has been recognized nationally.
