On March 6, Associate Professor of Physics Tony Crider gave an invited talk at the Triad Starfest. His presentation, "2012: Exploitation of the Maya Long Count," tackled urban legends perpetuated by assorted authors about the Classic Maya and the year 2012.
The Triad Starfest, held annually at Guilford Technical Community College, is a gathering of astronomers of all types, from novice to professional, for a full day of presentations, displays and observing. The event allows astronomy enthusiasts to share ideas and learn about a range of astronomical topics.
