Hall of Fame NFL quarterback Steve Young, former Citigroup CFO Gary Crittenden to speak TODAY

Elon's Student Entrepreneurial Enterprise Development (SEED) in association with the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (DCEL) will be hosting Steve Young and Gary Crittenden of Huntsman Gay Global Capital on Monday, March 15, at 2 p.m. in McCrary Theater.

Young will be speaking on adapting his career from professional football to working in private equity and law. He will focus on applying lessons learned on the field for a successful career and life. Crittenden will be talking on his experiences managing one of the world’s largest banks, Citigroup, through the recent financial recession. He will focus on what it is like to ethically allocate funds in a commonly demonized industry.

Young, best known for his time on the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, was named the Most Valuable Player of the NFL in 1992 and 1994, the MVP of Super Bowl XXIX, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005. He holds the NFL record for highest career passer rating and won six NFL passing titles. After his football career he pursued degrees in finance, political science and law. He was a co-founder of Sorenson Capital and now is a managing director at Huntsman Gay Global Capital.

Crittenden is one of the most accomplished businessmen in America. With degrees in managerial accounting from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Harvard, he has held the role of CFO at American Express, Sears Roebuck and Citigroup, and is now a managing director at Huntsman Gay Global Capital.
