Nina Totenberg to deliver Bryan Leadership Lecture

Nina Totenberg, National Public Radio's award-winning legal affairs correspondent, will deliver the Elon University School of Law spring 2010 Joseph M. Bryan Distinguished Leadership Lecture on Tuesday evening, March 16.

The lecture will be held downtown at the historic Carolina Theatre beginning at 7 p.m.

Totenberg’s coverage of legal affairs and the Supreme Court has won widespread recognition, including the Peabody Award, presented to NPR for Totenberg’s Supreme Court reporting in 1991, the Sigma Delta Chi Award from the Society of Professional Journalists for investigative reporting, the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Silver Baton for excellence in radio journalism, and the prestigious Joan S. Barone Award for excellence in Washington-based national affairs/public policy reporting.

Totenberg has been honored eight times by the American Bar Association for excellence in legal reporting. She has won every major journalism award in broadcasting, and is the only radio journalist to have won the National Press Foundation award for Broadcaster of the Year.

Totenberg is also a regular panelist on Inside Washington, a weekly syndicated public affairs television program produced in the nation’s capital, and a frequent contributor to major newspapers and periodicals, including the New York Times Magazine, the Harvard Law Review, the Christian Science Monitor, Parade magazine, and New York Magazine.

The Joseph M. Bryan Distinguished Leadership Lecture Series is an integral part of Elon University School of Law’s commitment to develop lawyers who are also leaders. Endowed through a generous gift from the Joseph M. Bryan Foundation of Greensboro, N.C., the Distinguished Leadership Lecture Series brings accomplished leaders from a variety of disciplines to Elon to share their experiences and perspectives with students and faculty.

This event is free and open to the public, although registration is required. Please RSVP by March 9 to reserve your seat, by emailing lawreservations@elon.edu or by calling 336-279-9275.
