Anthropology students Clementine Wall and Sierra Raimondi and education student Erin Deans presented their research at the Appalachia Studies Assoication conference in Dahlonega, Ga., March 19-20.
Wall presented her paper, “Gathering around the frame: Quilting as a means of community development.” Raimondi and Deans presented their work, “A good idea, but: Vanishing rural schools in Appalachia”. Both presentations represent original research done over the last year as part of a Project for Ethnographic Research and Community Studies interdisciplinary research project mentored by Bird Stasz, associate professor of education.
