Elon University alumnus Preston Williams Jr. ’09 was named one of four recipients of this year’s Diane Kent-Parker First Year Teacher Award in the Wake County Public School System, which serves more than 139,000 students in North Carolina’s second most populous county.
The award recognizes first-year teachers for their professionalism and dedication by peers.
Williams teaches English in Apex, N.C., at Middle Creek High School, his alma mater. While at Elon, he was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow and a contributor to Colonnades.
Recipients will be presented with the award May 13 at the WCPSS Teacher of the Year banquet.
