Elon junior Natalie Lampert will be attending the 2nd Annual Global Model United Nations Conference this August in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as a representative of both Elon University and the University of Ghana.
Lampert, who is currently studying abroad at the University of Ghana, is the only international student on Ghana’s eight-member delegation attending the conference.
Lampert is a member of Ghana’s United Nations Student Association and participated in Ghana’s International Model United Nations conference in March. She won “Best Delegate” in her committee, which qualified her to apply for the Global UN conference in Malaysia.
The Global Model UN conference, themed “Towards an Alliance of Civilizations: Bridging Cultures to Achieve Peace and Development,” will be held Aug. 14-18 with 1,000 university level-students in attendance, and it will simulate a General Assembly Summit on intercultural dialogue.
Lampert has attended four international Model UN conferences, first serving as a delegate and later as committee chair. She is an International Studies and Creative Writing major, and a Periclean Scholar and Elon College Fellow.
