With the most recent forecast calling for a 50 percent chance of rain Saturday morning and scattered thunderstorms throughout the day, seniors taking part in Commencement are reminded to visit Alamance 109 before this afternoon to receive two tickets for guests who will watch the ceremony inside Alumni Gym should weather force the program indoors.
Guests must have a ticket to be admitted into the gym and graduating seniors are limited to just the two tickets. It is the responsibility of the graduate to give these tickets to those who will use them on May 22.
Elon University will make every attempt to hold Commencement exercises Under the Oaks at 9:30 a.m. If the forecast predicts any possible rain to clear during the morning hours, the university may delay the start of the program until 10:30 a.m.
Should unexpected severe weather develop during Commencement, the ceremony will be halted to allow for a move to Alumni Gym. However, should weather develop with fewer than 100-150 graduates left to receive diplomas, those students will be taken inside West Dormitory to be awarded their degrees.
The ceremony will be broadcast on Elon TV. Guests who do not have tickets for Alumni Gym will be asked to view the program at the locations listed in the Commencement pocket guide.
In the rain plan, graduates will remain in Jordan Gymnasium until they process into Alumni Gym to receive their diplomas. The entire program will be seen in both Alumni and Jordan gyms on large screens.
The ceremony will also be streamed live on the web.
